Ending on a Positive Note!

Image
In reference to the prompt that is being assigned, here are my 2018 goals. 2018 Goals Two things I will like to learn before the end of the year is to learn how to be more social with my peers and my future students in my internship. Also, I would like to learn more about what it takes to be a successful teacher.  Something that I would like to avoid or remove from my daily behavior is procrastinating my study skills when it comes to quizzes and tests.  One thing that I could do to make my life easier, yet productive is creating a well-thought planner for school (homework, due dates, projects, etc.) and for future plans like college applications.  Eight ways that I have been or will show kindness to others by the end of the year:  I have gone over my sisters' homework and explain why she got the wrong answer and praising her.  Showing respect towards others when we both have different opinions.  April 6th was the Birdvil...

My Precept and Acrostic Poem

Image
For the last month, we were told to read Wonder by R.J Palacio. This book revolves around kindness and the positivity it brings to those around you. In this book, there is a precept the characters create, so here is mine. Also in our EAT Book Club, we analyze the characters in the book and how that person is characterized in the book.  This is my Acrostic Poem for Justin. J ittery when it came to reciting for the play and meeting Via's parents U nderstands Via's problems and why the universe is indifferent to Auggie S tands up for Auggie's friend, Jack, when Julian and his posse were taunting him for being friends with Auggie T alented for knowing how to play violin and the fiddle I ndependent N o one from his family really pays attention to him because his parents are divorced and obsessed with work.

Taking Initiative

Hello! Being a second-year student in EAT has it perks when you have dreamed of becoming a teacher. Interning at an elementary school is nostalgic, but that is not what I'm going to be talking about today. Today I will be talking about the initiative and how it is seen in a classroom. My teacher has encouraged us to step out of our bubble of coziness and lead others. Here is our prompt that I will be answering to. Initiative means to be independent and take charge without having an adult or someone else telling you to do something. Here are 10 ways to show initiative in a classroom as a teacher. Reading out loud to students when they need help Ask students to students when they are in working on individual work to see if they are grasping on the lesson correctly. Help students with class assignments and ask questions so they can analyze the work more in-depth. Going out of your way to make copies or deliver papers when your mentor teacher is busy with a lesson or s...

What Would You Do?

Image
The past week in my EAT class, we have been learning about the do's and don'ts of being an EAT intern and being in our classrooms. For our prompt , we must identify the violations and a solution that is professionally correct. My chosen Scenario: Scenario 2 The violations present in this scenario are one, having your phone out while teaching, two signing in/out for someone else. If I was in this position and checked my phone to see this message I wouldn't sign out another intern if they got an early dismissal at a field site. This doesn't make much sense because you can only get an early dismissal at your high school. The correct way to approach this is to text your EAT teacher about the case and let her take care of it. I can't be responsible for others responsibilities when they don't show up.

My Learning DNA

Image
As I aspire to become a successful and influential teacher, I must be aware of the different learning styles and preferences of many. As you keep reading, I will address my own learning styles which convey how I learn best. Visit Kallas-thenics to view our prompt and the various types of learning styles. Characteristics that Add Value to my Teaching     Every teacher has different characteristics that appeal to the students and aids them with their learning. I personally believe that my determination will influence my classroom and students by believing that we as a class will achieve all of our work and pass tests. I am a very compassionate person and I believe every teacher should show some compassion and not just ignore students who are experiencing a problem . Showing compassion to students also shows that as a teacher you're trustworthy to keep personal problems between each other. Organization is a crucial characteristic that I happen to use on a daily. I must ex...

My Classroom Rules

Image
Recently we watched a movie,  The Ron Clark Story, in my Education and Training Internship class. After watching the movie, I couldn't help but start thinking about the importance of rules in a classroom. After talking with my classmates and brainstorming I have figured out my eight golden rules for third graders.         Before you scroll any further, I would like to give you my view on classroom rules and how they should work in a classroom. Click here to learn about our assignment. 1. Why are rules important for learning? Rules are set to get rid of distractions from reaching success. Having rules create expectations for students in learning environments. With rules students are expected to be respectful with their peers and property when the teacher establishes that with a rule. The learning environment is more organized and comfort. 2. How can rules help to keep a classroom running smoothly? Having rules set in a clas...
